2021.11.29 23:20 Fun-Hawk1423 Is C# a good language for freelance gigs?

I have used python off and on for the last few years (just hobby projects and leetcode) and I am having trouble figuring out what language will allow me to work on more creative projects.
For example I stumbled on someone on this sub with an app for managing reddit bots. I would love to get paid to writing things like that. Or applications that have to do with calculating things and possibly graphing them. I have some GLSL experience as well.
Any advice is appreciated!

2021.11.29 23:20 CancerToe Is it offensive for a Native American to play a Native role that isn't their tribe?

Example: For a fake film I'm making for a class, I want to cast Tiio Horn for a role of an Oneida mother, but she's Mohawk, another member of the Iroquois Nations.
I figure it would be fine because if casting were constrained to 100% accuracy, there would be a great lack of representation for smaller tribes.

2021.11.29 23:20 obscuredillusions Teddy Coatigan Size

I purchased the Teddy Coatigan by Summer & Rose in this past sale, and like many others, was confused about the sizing based on the charts.
I ended up sizing up to plus, and that was a terrible idea. I’m literally SWIMMING in it. I’m 5’2” and a size 16, and I would recommend this size honestly to someone 8-10 inches taller and bigger in general. It doesn’t look good at all because the arms are about 6 inches too long for me and the bottom hits me at my knees.
It’s so soft and comfortable, though, so if anyone wants to trade their standard for my plus, please let me know!

2021.11.29 23:20 ZaBlancJake Reason why AKB48 has been failed to participant in NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen for the 2nd Consecutive Years [Opinion]

On November 16 of last year, NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen was announced, and AKB48 was not among the contestants, which was a big surprise since they had participated in the event for 11 consecutive years since 2009.
AKB48's breakthrough came around 2009. From that point on, they have been active on the front lines for over a decade. It is highly unusual for an idol to maintain its popularity for such a long period of time.
The 2010s was also a decade in which the Internet brought about major changes in the media. With the widespread use of smartphones, people now get information from the Internet on a daily basis and communicate through SNS.

Here is some reasons why they fallen out:

The "AKB business model" that ran through the 2010s AKB48 was a perfect fit for the decade. The fans' excitement spread virally on the Internet, and the legacy media overestimated their excitement.
In addition, the CDs sold with handshake tickets and general election tickets in them made it normal for fans to buy multiple copies and hacked the Oricon rankings. Fans bought CDs for the opportunity to communicate with the girls (handshake tickets) or to support them (voting tickets). This is what is known as the "AKB business model"
This is what is called the "AKB business model" For the 10 years from 2010 to 2019, AKB48 continued to be at the top of the annual singles ranking. The enthusiasm of fans of the "idols you can go see" was translated into CD sales and music popularity. By using the old Oricon system, they were able to generalize the popularity of their core fans. In other words, the "AKB business model" was also a system of "popularity alchemy"
The "AKB business model" worked beautifully, and AKB48 continued to be a "big hit" in the first half of the decade. However, after the middle of the decade, the wind changed. There are some main reasons for this.

Demise of Oricon Ranking
One is that the standard for measuring music popularity has changed to the Billboard charts. While Oricon only ranked CD sales until the end of 2018, the Billboard chart is constructed on a song-by-song basis, using not only CD sales but also complex indicators such as music download sales, streaming services, and video views. Currently, it consists of eight indicators, the weight of which is changed every year.
One of them is lookup, which means the number of CDs read to PCs. It is an index to measure the extent to which music is actually listened to, while controlling the influence of the "AKB business" that encourages the purchase of multiple copies.
TV and many other media began to switch from Oricon to Billboard around the mid-decade. This was because Oricon's top rankings were dominated by AKB48, Johnny's, and anime songs. Oricon, which strongly reflects the enthusiasm of core fans who buy CDs for the perks, had become dysfunctional as a standard to measure the popularity of songs as the music media diversified.
AKB48 occupied a high position on the Billboard until 2016. However, their ranks gradually dropped after 2017. This is because Billboard changed the weight of its chart index. In fact, in the past three years, music demand has shifted considerably from CDs to streaming. Billboard is adapting to the music environment of listeners.
As a result, even though the AKB48 group tops the Billboard in the first week of its release, it drops significantly in the following weeks (this is also the case with many of the Johnny's groups, which are not internet-enabled except for a few).
This change in the rules of the music rankings has made it impossible for AKB48 to "alchemize" their popularity.

Unable to create a "post-Sashihara"
The next factor in the decline of AKB48's popularity is the succession of graduations and departures of core members such as Rino Sashihara.
Sashihara was so popular that she came out on top four times in the 10 general elections held between 2009 and 2018. She was the backbone of AKB48 after Atsuko Maeda and Yuko Oshima, the most popular members in the early years, graduated. Sashihara graduated in April 2019; she did not participate in the 2018 general election and her graduation was a given.
None of the remaining members filled Sashihara's void; SKE48's Matsui Jurina, who finished first in the 2018 general election, did not generalize her popularity, and after dropping out of the Korean audition show PRODUCE 48 midway through the campaign, she began to take more and more time off due to health problems.

Talent drain from "PRODUCE 48" Sakura Miyawaki, who was expected to be one of the most popular members of the group, also took the opportunity of "PRODUCE 48" to go to South Korea and become a member of IZ*ONE, which has been very active in the world of K-POP. Although they are only active until April 2021, IZ*ONE remains the second most popular K-pop girl group after BLACKPINK and TWICE.
Another finalist in the same program, Juri Takahashi, also graduated and moved to Korea to debut as a member of Rocket Punch. Takahashi was the one who was highly touted as the next general manager. As a result, "PRODUCE 48," for which Yasushi Akimoto was one of the producers, led to an exodus of talent.
In September 2019, then-17-year-old Moeka Yahagi was chosen as the center of the group as a new star candidate. However, a month later, Yahagi announced her graduation. It was ironic that the song she was the center of was "Sustainable". Now that she has disappeared from the entertainment industry, there are many rumors that she has moved to a major production company and is preparing to make her debut again.
While the popularity of AKB48 has been declining due to the departure of major members, the popularity of Sakamichi Groups such as Nogizaka46 and Keyakiizaka46 has been increasing. The Sakamichi groups were originally created as rivals to AKB48, but there were many differences. The concept of each group was clear, the members did not compete with each other in general elections, and the members were chosen based on their looks. The same business model was used to promote the purchase of multiple CDs by holding handshake events.
Younger fans have moved from AKB48 to the slope groups. While some fans were attracted to the innocence of Nogizaka46, others identified with the adolescent concept of Keyakizaka46. fans wanted a simpler group than the competition that the AKB48 group had shown.

NGT Incident Reveals as a Shoddy Management
The other main reason is the NGT48 scandal that broke out in January 2019. One of the members was attacked by a fan, and the situation was severely aggravated by the poor handling of the situation by the management company, AKS (now Vernalossom).
This incident has caused the AKB48 group to lose public trust. It revealed that Japan's top idol group, which had been providing cheerful and fun entertainment, was being managed in an extremely chaotic manner.
AKS's handling of the situation was extremely sloppy, with the affected members responding in real time via Twitter during AKS's press conference, and no press conference being held to report on the investigation by the third-party committee. This attitude further increased the rift between the members and caused fans to become suspicious and distrustful.
In the spring, the summer general election, which had been held for ten years, was not held. Not only was this a scandal, but by the previous year TV ratings had been on a downward trend, and sponsoring was not an easy task. In addition to that, there was a possibility that the fans' votes would lead to a different result from what the management expected (such as the possibility of the affected members coming out on top). This spring (the end of March) also saw the end of a series of programs. such as AKBingo and others.

The flaw in "meeting real idols daily" or "idols you can go see" However, this incident was also caused by the unique concept of "idols you can go see" or "meeting real idols daily" The fact that the fans came to the members' apartments was a result of a misunderstanding caused by direct communication. In other words, the flaws in the basic concept of AKB48 have been exposed.
Of course, this concept was initially a great advantage. From the late 2000s to the early 2010s, the enthusiasm of a small group of fans generated by direct communication with idols spread in a huge vortex - a vortex that was amplified by SNS and other forms of online communication.
The producer, Yasushi Akimoto, saw the AKB48 group as a kind of school. The management does not give strong instructions, but leaves the members to their own initiative. He believed that this laissez-faire freedom would lead to the group's popularity, and this was actually the case until the early '10s. Until Fuji TV's "Terrace House" became a hit, AKB48, along with high school baseball, was one of Japan's most popular reality shows.

The labor shortage has been pointed out for some time However, since the mid-decade, SNS and the Internet have had a negative effect. This is what happened to the NGT48 member who was attacked.
AKS was unable to cope with such changes in the communication situation of the fans. Despite the fact that fans had long pointed out the lack of manpower on the part of the management, the incident occurred without any additional managers or care system in place.
In the end, with the facts of the case still unclear, AKS filed a civil lawsuit against the two assailant fans, which was settled in April of 2020 around the same time, AKS changed its name to Verna Rossum and withdrew from the management of AKB, HKT, and NGT groups. The company will now focus solely on the domestic activities of the overseas 48 groups and IZ*ONE
The NGT48 scandal left AKS with a great deal of damage, not only from the cancellation of the general election, but also from changing the company name and withdrawing from group management.

Only one CD was released in 2020 And finally, the direct hit of the COVID-19. Of course, this is hurting many industries, not just idol groups, but it's hurting the AKB48 group even more. For the "idols you can go see," handshake sessions and live performances are a risk of infection.
From 2007, the year after their major label debut, to 2018, AKB48 has been releasing CD singles at a pace of four to five per year. As mentioned above, they were released with handshake tickets and general election tickets enclosed. However, in 2019, only two singles were released due to the general election not being held, and in 2020, only "Shitsuren, Arigatō" was released in March. Due to the Pandemic, the handshake sessions could not be resumed, and 2020 was the end of the year.
The spread of the COVID-19 must have been unfortunate for everyone. But for AKB48 and other Japanese idol groups that focus on the personalities of their members, the damage is even greater.
The Sakamichi group is no exception. Nogizaka46 has only released one CD single in 2020. They released two digital singles for streaming only in June and July, but they failed to make a dent in the Billboard charts, with "Sekaijū no Rinjin yo" reaching a high of #23 and "Route 246," composed by Tetsuya Komuro, reaching a high of #10. As for the popularity of music, Nogizaka46 was also at this level. As a result, Nogizaka has also fallen out of the top 20 artists of the year on the Billboard charts, where it was ranked 9th last year (AKB48 has already fallen out of the top 20 2 years ago).
As I pointed out at the beginning of this post , the AKB business model refers to the "popularity alchemy" of generalizing the enthusiasm of a few fans through CD sales. This is also the case with Nogizaka46. If they can really compete on the popularity of their music, it won't hurt them much if they can't hold live concerts or handshake sessions due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

From Oricon to Billboard, the graduation and departure of key members, the scandal of NGT48, and the direct hit of the Pandemic... the failure of "Kohaku" is an extension of these events. It was an inevitable turn of events.
This was similar to Hello Project back in 2009 the changing sequence of events.

And that technically made it only stay on that monitor but only half of the tablet is usable now.
